Lake Mead Canoe Trip
Two, Three, Four, Five, or Six day canoe trip.
Day One: Drive to Lake Mead, 5 Hour drive, spend night.
Day Two: Meet ranger at Hoover Dam at 8:30 A.M. or 10:00 A.M.. Launch canoes
an hour later (Note: Ranger will charge a fee for each canoe launched.). One mile
downstream, stop for lunch at Boy Scout Cove on the Nevada side. Boy Scout Cove has
a natural hot spring. Also, it is a good spot to rest the sore bodies. After lunch
continue downstream five more miles to Ring Bolt Rapids on the Arizona side. This is
a primitive camp with no water or restrooms.
Day Three: Continue downstream for 8 miles to Willow Beach (Note: You may canoe
from Lake Mead to Willow Beach in one day. This is a total of 14 miles, but would
be tough for inexperienced canoeists). If canoeing a fourth day, canoe past Willow
Beach four miles and camp at Monkey Hole on the Nevada side or one mile farther or
marker 48 on the Arizona side.
Day Four: Continue canoeing downstream for 13 miles to Nelson's landing. If
canoeing a fifth day, canoe past Nelson's Landing to marker 28 on the Nevada side.
Day Five: Continue canoeing downstream 18 miles to Cottonwood Cove. If canoeing
a sixth day camp here.
Day Six: Continue canoeing downstream hugging the Arizona side. Remove canoes at
Katheryn's Landing.
