One of an Order of the Arrow Lodge's most important duties is to promote camping and camping traditions to the Troops and Teams in the Council it serves. In the California Inland Empire Council, there are over 400 Troops and Teams to contact annually to perform this sacred duty.

On June 30th, Cahuilla Lodge mailed information to every Troop Scoutmaster and Varsity Team Coach in the California Inland Empire Council promoting the organization, Camp Emerson's programs and summer camp, Camp Helendade's programs and summer camp, as well as information about the O.A. Troop/Team Representative Program.

This mailing is a large expense for the Lodge, but it is part of the holistic approach the Order of the Arrow uses in promoting camping to the units it serves. This includes presentations at unit meetings, booths set up at Roundtables and district events, a super camping promotion booth at the Council Stampede, as well as the mailing. Most unit leaders will have been reached several times over the year about the Order of the Arrow program and our aim to improve their units.

Cahuilla Lodge's camping promotion program has stood the test of time. Our Lodge is a three-time recipient of the prestigious E. Urner Goodman Camping Award, receiving the honor from the National Order of the Arrow Committee in 1983, 1995, and 2002.

Also, Cahuilla Lodge has a legacy of success in competition. At the 2000 National Order of the Arrow Conference, Cahuilla was first place nationally in the Unit Presentation Display competition. The Lodge has also won camping promotion competitions at the Section W4B Conclave in 1996, 2002, and 2004.
