In a stunning display of spirit and competition, Cahuilla Lodge brings home two of three major awards at Conclave 2004, Lost Valley.

They were like ants working around their ant hill, each one running around working for the good of the group, observed Lodge Advisor Frank Sydow who was profoundly impressed with the organization and effort put forth by his Lodge youth.

In a manner that is consistent with Cahuilla, the Lodge competed aggressively for the spirit award. This year Cahuilla brought forth some truly unique ideas including bibs/aprons at dinner and “Cahuilla Lodge Thinking Caps made from Krispy Kreme hats. This was just a few of the general gig ideas that were brought to the floor.

Communications being an important factor, eight different types of spirit cards were passed out to other Lodges and quickly became a collector’s item. A much applauded display of spirit came from the Cahuilla Lodge bathroom bandits, who on several occasions cleaned the restroom facilities for the entire Section. It was clear the amount of time and effort that went into spirit and it was no wonder that they brought home the award.

Competitions played a major role in Cahuilla also receiving the Negami Award, for overall best Lodge at Conclave. Cahuilla Lodge won a large majority of the sports competitions as well as ceremony team competitions. In general, Cahuilla provided a strong force in nearly all of the events and competitions that were offered. Lodge Chief Chris Horn remarks, We did very well at giving it our all at Conclave and I’m very proud us.

One of the greatest showings was that of the Camping Promotions Booth, appearing for the first time after its recent renovation. The new booth is a stunning display of information and pictures that provide an enormous amount of information concerning the council camps. The Camping Promotion Booth received first place.
