Cahuilla Lodge # 127, the local Order of the Arrow Lodge for the California Inland
Empire Council, will again be providing summer camp support for Camp Emerson in Idyllwild.
As a service-based organization, it our mission to leaving a lasting postive impact
on our camps, our council, the Troops and Teams we serve, and the individual members
and constituents we serve.
Besides having a large number of staff members who are fellow members of the Order, we will
also be lending support where possible from members down the hill. Our objectives are
simple but attainable. Our goal is to more closely bond with our camps.
Order of the Arrow Days for 2006 at Camp Emerson
- July 5, 2006 - Recap
The O.A. day activities went great. There was an O.A. Day Service Project on Wednesday afternoon. After dinner
there was a general meeting for all O.A. members. We had several arrowmen from Tucson, Arizona and they told us
about their experiences in their home Lodge. Several other O.A. members from our Lodge talked about their own
chapters and experiences at summer camp.
Later that evening, O.A. members lit up the trail and escorted campers into Bear Trap Bowl for the evening O.A.
campfire. Scouts were mesmerized by the drum songs and story telling. One arrowman from Tucson commented later
that it was the most impressive O.A. campfire he had ever seen. It was a great start for the first O.A. campfire
of summer camp, with many more coming that will continue to impress Scouts throughout the rest of the season.
