Garth Olson Is New Recording Secretary
Unfortunately, Lodge Recording Secretary
David Morris was left with the tough decision to resign his position because his family is moving to Colorado. The Lodge Executive Committee decided that the position was important enough that a replacement was elected to serve the one month interim until the normal Lodge
Officer elections are held at the
Fall Fellowship. Elected was Garth Olsn, a member of the
Tahquitz Chapter.
Congratulations to Garth with hopes that he is successful in his interim position.
Steve To Serve As Section Secretary
Costa Mesa, CA--Our very own Lodge Chief, Steve Scott, was elected
the 1998-1999 W4B Section Secretary at the Section Conclave. As a result, he will be able
to provide leadership and a lodge presence at the Section level when Cahuilla is the
service lodge for the 1999 W4B Conclave. As per National and Lodge Rules, Steve will be
able to serve his entire term as Lodge Chief. His duties over the next year will include
publishing agendas, minutes, and the Section newsletter. His role is very important in
promoting good communications within the section. Please join the lodge in congratulation
Steve on his new section position.
Lodge Needs Missing Items
By Steve Bartel, Whi-Al-Um Chapter Chief
We need your Help!!!
We are in dire need of your help. We have been missing the
lodge's 8-foot snake since last year's conclave. Our snake has been around since the early
1980s and has numerous lodge flaps from our past years. We would love to get it back. We
missed it at the Conclave this year and we were forced to improvise.
We are also missing both of the big wooden lodge flaps. These have been missing since
the last national conference in Indiana. We need them back. We use them for pride, to show
who we are, to boost our lodge's spirit.
Lastly, we are also missing the conduit for the top of our camping promotion booth. If
you have any information on the whereabouts of these items please let us know. The best
way is to contact Steve Scott, the Lodge Chief at chief127@yahoo.com,
or Dennis Underwood at kunder1@earthlink.net.
Thank you for your assistance.

Lodge Getting Ready For Conclave
Coming May 1-3 is the W4B Conclave and our lodge is getting ready! After a successful
year, Cahuilla is ready to "Snake Power" its way to the top as the frontrunner
is spirit in service to the Order. The gigs are ready to go, the camp promotion booth is
being set up, and as always, we have our secret weapons, our mouths!
Any questions should go to Steve Scott about
anything you need to know about the event. Any questions about our responsibility in
training should go to Vince Williams. The
site, as you probably know, is at the Costa Mesa High School in Orange County. So, we are
entering Cog territory, but, snakes have always been known to invade lands that have
ancient totems of unknown use!
Something else to be cognizant of is the 1999 Conclave, which our Lodge is providing
service for. The site is currently undetermined, but the site committee is down to a
handful of places. Over the next year, we will need a lot of help for this undertaking, so
we hope you will get involved.
NOAC Steams Around The Corner
The date for the 1998 National Conference is August 2-6 at Iowa State University in
Ames. Final plans are being implemented, mainly to arrange transportation. If you have any
questions regarding any issues, Dennis Underwood
is available. For more information see the official NOAC promotion page at oa-bsa.org. If you have any newsworth items related to Scouting, they
have a place here! Just e-mail the webmaster at thetracedogg@yahoo.comand
they will be added immediately.
