January 1, 2008
Dear Arrowmen,
We have a very busy year coming up, but I believe that there is much fun to be had. Our
work for next year consists of chapter rebuilding, service projects and unit elections. These
tasks will be challenging, but if we keep in mind the spirit of cheerful service, and work as
brothers, we will accomplish all that has been set forth for 2008.
The fun to be had next year is plentiful. There is conclave, fall fellowship, Philmont,
Northern Tier, and much more. This is where we can spark more interest; invite people who
don’t go to events, to go to one of these fun events. They will have fun, and will want to be
more active. Don’t forget to have fun yourself, these events are meant to be enjoyed.
Now, as I said before this year will be busy, and I challenge you to receive the honor
chapter status, to have a great year, and to work cheerfully. Reflect upon why you are in the
OA, and don’t forget the mission of the lodge.
This will be a great year with your help,
Nick Gaskin
2008 Lodge Chief
My Goals for 2008
Short-Term
- A requirement for quality lodge is 30% Brotherhood conversion, but my goal for the lodge is 40% Brotherhood conversion.
- We have the biggest OA service project to look forward to this year; my goal is that we have at least one Cahuilla member at each Arrow Corps 5 site.
- During Unit elections this year my goal is that we contact 100% of the units in our lodge.
- This next year my goal is to have better record keeping in our lodge to make sure everything is accurate and up to date.
- This year my goal is to develop an efficient and effective leadership team at the lodge level.
Long-Term
- To get the Scoutreach mentoring program off the ground and running smoothly.
- There were many fires this year, due to this Helendade Scout Camp has been damaged, and my goal is that our lodge repairs this damage.
- The implementation of a chapter mentoring program, in which larger chapters help out the smaller chapters in need.
- To get the Camp Brown Ramada Project underway.
- The lodge has many members and my goal is that we will spark more interest and participation in lodge events.
- Implementation of the Nimat program in our lodge.
- Establishment of quarterly checks to make sure the troop team representatives is fulfilling their duties.
